The Post Featured Image widget by Atomic Addons shows the featured image of a blog post in a post page design. You place it once in a Single Post template and every post fills it with its own image. You pick the image size and style its width, height, fit, border and hover effects. This guide covers adding the widget, its setting and its styles.
Enable the Post Featured Image Widget
Post Featured Image is a Pro widget and needs Atomic Addons Pro. Switch it on from the plugin dashboard:
- 1
Go to WordPress Dashboard → Atomic Addons.
- 2
Click the Widgets tab.
- 3
Search for Post Featured Image. You can also open the Posts / Dynamic category.
- 4
Turn the Post Featured Image widget on.
- 5
Click Save Settings.
Add the Post Featured Image Widget
The widget belongs in a Theme Builder template for blog posts, usually near the title:
- 1
Go to WordPress Dashboard → Atomic Addons → Theme Builder.
- 2
Click Add New and choose the Single Post card.
- 3
Give the template a name and open it in Elementor. Its display condition is already set to Singular → All singular. A Single Post template is only used for single blog posts, so it applies to every post as soon as you publish it.
- 4
In the widget panel, search for Post Featured Image and drag it into the template. The widget sits in the Atomic Addons Pro (Single) category.
- 5
Set it up with the controls below, then click Publish.
In the editor the template previews a sample post: the one picked under Builder Settings → Builder Post in the template's page settings (click Apply & Preview), or your most recent post if none is picked. On your site, each post shows its own featured image.
The widget is not limited to templates: it is in the panel on any page you edit with Elementor, where it shows the featured image of that page or post.
Image
Select the widget and open the Content tab. The Image section has one setting, Image Size: one of the sizes your site makes for uploads, such as Thumbnail, Medium, Large (the default) or Full. Pick a named size: the widget does not apply the width and height of the Custom option.
The image is not linked and has no caption. A post without a featured image shows nothing.
Style the Post Featured Image
The Style tab has an Image section:
- Width, Max Width and Height, per screen size. Once you set a height, Object Fit appears: Default, Fill, Cover or Contain.
- Alignment — left, center or right.
- Normal and Hover tabs with Opacity and CSS filters. The Hover tab adds a Transition Duration and an Elementor Hover Animation.
- Border, Border Radius and box shadow.
